BSF-NSF Joint Funding Program - Pre-Announcement
 
The U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) recently announced the expected expansion of its joint funding program with the  CBET (Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport System) Division of the Engineering Directorate of the NSF. The joint funding will include the following clusters:
  • Chemical Process Systems
  • Engineering Biology and Health
  • Environmental Engineering and Sustainability
  • Transport Phenomena
The deadline for submissions, in most of these programs, is expected for October 2018. Therefore, it is recommended to contact your American partner as soon as possible.

Ministry of Health - Cancer and Eye Diseases Research

The Ministry invites innovative research proposals with an applicable potential.
The research proposals should focus on understanding the etiology, epidemiology, course and prevention of the following:
  • Pancreatic Cancer 
  • Diagnosis of cancer in children
  • Eye Diseases
 
Please note that the agreement with the Ministry has yet to be finalized.

American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) - 2018 New Investigator Awards in Alzheimer's Disease (Letter of Intent)

The major goal of this program is to support research and improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The program will fund applications in basic, transitional and clinical research related to Alzheimer’s disease and healthy brain aging.

Network For Studies On Pensions, Aging and Retirement (Netspar) - Theme Grants 2018 (In collaboration with Dutch Universities)

Netspar supports innovative academic research on all aspects of the social sciences related to aging and retirement.

Please note:
  • The application must be submitted by a Dutch university or knowledge institute at which the proposed project leader must be employed.
  • 50% of the requested amount will be covered by the foundation.  The other 50% of the budget should be from the researchers financial resources (matching in cash or in kind).

The Small Research Grants program aims to support smaller scale or pilot research projects (up to $50,000). Proposals are encouraged from a variety of disciplines in an effort to fund field-initiated education research.

The National Geographic Society
 
The National Geographic Society awards grants for conservation, education, research, storytelling, and technology through its Committee for Research and Exploration. All proposed projects must be novel and exploratory. Two tracks are available:

Israel - Italy Scientific Workshops 

The Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Italy and the Italy-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Israel invite researchers to two Scientific Workshops:

Where:  Crowne Plaza Hotel, 145 Hayarkon Street, Tel-Aviv

The purpose of the workshops is to present the most up-to-date scientific developments of Italy and Israel in these fields and to network with scientists, senior researchers and young investigators from both sides to build new scientific collaborations.
