Unique Perspectives that lead to Extraordinary Work “Excellence Awards” Regulations – Ben-Gurion University of the Negev 2021-2022
1. Award objective:
Recognition of outstanding University employees and encouragement of employees to excel.
This year there will be nine awards:
• The President’s Award to two employees
• The Director General’s Award to three employees
• Deputy Director General for Human Resources Awards to four employees

2. Criteria:
  1. Excellence and integrity: an employee committed to professional and personal standards of the highest level
  2. The art of the possible: an employee who excels at solving problems and creating new possibilities, removing obstacles or bureaucracy, excels in openness and flexibility
  3. Winning courage: an employee who excels in an innovative or initiative approach, beyond his/her defined role, which adds special value thanks to the change of perspective
  4. The power of togetherness: an employee who excels at creating interpersonal, interdisciplinary, or inter-unit connections and collaborations
  5. Inclusion and Social Responsibility: An employee committed to social responsibility and who believes in a diverse and inclusive human environment as the key to excellence
  6. Israeli spirit: an employee who expresses all the criteria together, and in the spirit of the Ben-Gurion heritage

3. Selection process:
The process will include three stages:
Stage 1: Sorting of nominations and collection of additional information on the nominees (performance evaluation, validation questionnaire, recommendations and additional information). The information collected will provide a base for the candidate moving to the next stage.
Stage 2: An initial committee will consider the recommendations of each of the
candidates and will choose 10 finalists.
Stage 3: The head committee will select 9 candidates meeting the criteria in point 2.

4. The committee members:
  1. Initial committee: Deputy Director-General for Human Resources (Committee  
    Chair), Academic Faculty Representative, Administration Representative, Faculties Representative, Research Institutes Representative, Outstanding Employees Representative, Workers Committee Representative (Administrative and Technical Staff)
  2. Deciding Committee: Director General (Committee Chair), President’s Representative, Vice-Rector, Deputy Director-General for Human Resources, Workers Committee Representative

5. Eligibility:
  1. Members of the Administrative and Technical Staff at all grades including Unit Heads, who have worked at the University for at least 5 years (including time employed on a research budget)
  2. An employee who has not been chosen to receive any of the above-mentioned awards over the previous 5 years (employees who have been nominated in the past but who did not receive an award can be nominated again)

6. Nominations for awards:
  1. Nominations will be accepted from staff, colleagues, supervisors, clients and students) as those receiving service, and not an employee in the same unit
  2. In the case of at least three employees in the same unit being nominated from the last year, the nominations will be sent to the direct supervisor and supervisor for their input

  • In the case of three or more employees from the same unit being nominated, HR will convene a committee consisting of HR representative (Chair), and a manager who will grade the nominees

7. Awards:
The President’s Award - totals NIS 3,000 to two employees.
Director General’s Award - Award totals NIS 2,000 to each of the three employees.
Deputy Director General for Human Resources Award - totals NIS 1,000 to each of the four employees.
