Petroleum Development Oman issues a call for investors to help it reuse the large volumes of oily #producedwater that are generated during the drilling process. Oman’s chief oil company generates in the region of 1 million m3/d of produced water. Around 70% is currently reused in the #industrial process, largely for reinjection into oil wells. The remainder is disposed of in deep wells, which is an energy-intensive process. Faiza ALHarthy, the head of energy and water policy at PDO, told GWI that the company had set a target of zero deep-water disposal by 2030. #waternews Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJkw5nUD

April’s list details commitments made by members of the 300 Water Leaders initiative to connect more than 112 million people to water and #sanitation services by 2030. The pledges made at the Global Water Summit act as a point of focus, and underpin both the individual and collective responsibility that comes with tackling SDG6. The initiative currently has 44 members which together serve over 200 million people. In becoming a member of the Water Leaders Group, leaders have pledged to extend their services to a certain number of people under the definitions provided by the United Nations’ #SDG6. Whilst national #utilities such as Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd and National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) can make larger pledges with more resources to mobilise, they also outline challenges just as sizeable. Find the complete list of 44 members with their pledge in the the full article: https://lnkd.in/dFgcPMzG

The Philippines new PPP code aims to drastically cut waiting times on project approval. Under the new system, the national PPP Center will now take the lead on all unsolicited and solicited proposals for #wastewater and #waterprojects across the country. “The new law institutionalises best practices on unsolicited proposals,” explains PPP Center deputy executive director Jeffrey M.. “It used to be the case that a proponent of an unsolicited proposal could wait for more than a year before being told that their proposal was incomplete,” he told GWI. Is this new code the first step towards a dedicated department that will kickstart a burst of new water projects? GWI Asia Editor Ed Cullinane investigates. #waternews Find a complete guide to PPPS in the Philippines, including the implications for the private sector with the full article here: https://lnkd.in/erUMSjkJ
